East Hartford, CT—Interval House is one of the States leading victim’s advocacy organizations.  As part of this partnership, Interval House has a domestic violence victim advocate stationed at the East Hartford Police Department on a part-time basis to streamline domestic incident screenings and offer on-site training to local police officers and first responders. Victim's advocate, Leslie Centeno, brings a wealth of knowledge in the area of victims’ rights and has a number of resources to assist the East Hartford Police Department in helping victims of Domestic Violence.

This continues to be a great opportunity for the department, allowing us to act more efficiently, and improve the quality of life in East Hartford  with this partnership.

Since 1981, the month of October has been annually recognized as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1/3 of all criminal court cases in Connecticut involve family violence.
