Board of Selectmen

Every two years as a part of the Town's general elections three individuals are elected to the Board of Selectmen. The duties of the elected Selectmen pertain to the establishment, maintenance, and settlement of disputes regarding fences. The Connecticut General Statutes Section 47-49 et seq. establish a very limited role for selectman with respect to fence disputes. Specifically, a selectman’s authority is limited to settling disputes regarding the construction of a boundary fence, the division of a boundary fence, and the making of necessary repairs to a boundary fence.
