Local Prevention Council

The East Hartford Local Prevention Council (LPC), is a community-based coalition with the goal of building local capacity to plan and implement substance use/misuse prevention strategies to reduce problem behaviors and associated negative outcomes for all ages, but particularly the East Hartford youth. The CT Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services- Prevention and Health Promotion Division, in collaboration with the Regional Behavioral Health Action Organizations, annually funds over 150 community-based LPCs to help support LPC prevention activities.

Mission Statement: The East Hartford Local Prevention Council is dedicated to increasing public awareness, education, and prevention of substance misuse, particularly among youth. Through culturally competent resources, evidence-based strategies, and proactive collaboration, we empower the community to engage in collective action. Our goal is to be a trusted and approachable resource for substance misuse prevention, leaving a lasting legacy of sustainable impact and decreased rates of substance misuse among youth.

The East Hartford LPC is currently recruiting members! The goal is to establish a diverse group of key stakeholders who are East Hartford residents and represent multiple sectors, including but not limited to parents, youth, educators, youth serving organizations, substance misuse organizations, local government, law enforcement, health care, media, business, faith-based organizations, civic and volunteer groups, and persons with lived experience.
