Division Mission Statement
It is the mission of the East Hartford Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Division to provide professional, fair and impartial police service, to include education and awareness in the area of motor vehicle enforcement. This effort is to reduce traffic related incident(s) and injuries within the Town of East Hartford.
Traffic Enforcement/ Motorcycle Division Officers
The Traffic Enforcement Division consists of several full-time officers and is augmented by several part-time motorcycle officers and one supervisor. Officers are tasked with enforcing state and local vehicle statutes as well as the enforcement of local traffic ordinances. This is done while working proactively with the community to create a safer driving/riding experience to all residents and visitors. This is not only accomplished through the enforcement of traffic laws but also the education of the public and addressing roadway issues while working with other town, state and federal agencies.
The Traffic Enforcement Division responds to traffic complaints and safety concerns received through a variety of venues to include; the Traffic Tip Line, Facebook®, dispatch among others. They share the responsibility for approximately 3000+ state & local stop signs and approximately 155+ miles of roadway.

***As a reminder this tip line is checked on a periodic basis and used to address complaints such as neighborhood speeding, stop sign violations, issues that are ongoing, etc. If you have a traffic related emergency that requires an immediate response, please utilize the 911 system. For traffic related issues that are not an emergency, but still require an officer's immediate response for investigation, then please contact the East Hartford Police routine line at 860-528-4401***

Enforcement Activities
The East Hartford Police Traffic Enforcement Division participates in several state and federal safety campaigns throughout the year to educate the public and when needed, conduct enforcement. Some of these campaign’s include; Click-it or Ticket, Distracted Driving and Non-Motorized/Pedestrian Safety Awareness, Speed and Aggressive Driving and Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement. These campaigns have proven effective in years past in reducing serious injuries and property damage.
In the United States, motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death, and over 100 people are killed each day. However, motor vehicle crash injuries and deaths are preventable. Whether you are a driver, passenger, cyclist, or pedestrian, you can take steps to stay safe on the road. Help to make the Town of East Hartford a safer place for residents and visitors alike.
