fingerprinting resumes in east hartford

East Hartford, CT - Please be advised that fingerprinting services at the Public Safety Complex will resume on Wednesday, June 10 for regularly scheduled hours of operation, 10 am to 2 pm, following strict safety measures.

BIS-East Hartford's fingerprinting vendor, is an extremely safety-conscious company and has never had a work-related injury or illness nor have we ever been notified of any injury or illness experienced by a customer/applicant resulting from our fingerprinting services.

The Covid-19 situation has presented some unique safety concerns which have required all of society to take a new look at personal safety and the safety of others. At BIS, we have taken a serious look at what we can and need to do to ensure the safety of our personnel as well as those we serve. Since the practice of taking someone’s fingerprints requires very-close personal contact between the Fingerprint Technician and the applicant, we have implemented certain safety guidelines and precautions as detailed below.

  • BIS Fingerprint Technicians will wear approved masks and gloves at all times while providing services to applicants and while being in the same vicinity of other people (both applicants and other employees) at police departments and at other locations we serve.

  • BIS Fingerprint Technicians will regularly sanitize their hands in accordance with recommended standards and no less than before and after each applicant is fingerprinted. Hand sanitizer will also be available and used as appropriate.

  •  All Live Scan and related equipment will be properly cleaned both before and after each applicant is fingerprinted in accordance with recommended standards.
  • Applicants will be required to bring their own masks and to wear them at all times.

  • Applicants will be required to sanitize their hands both before and after being fingerprinted.

  • Only the Fingerprint Technician and the person being fingerprinted will be at the Live Scan device for fingerprinting at a time. Other applicants waiting to be fingerprinted will be required to remain a safe distance away (at least ten feet) or outside the facility until they are called.

  • The Fingerprint Technician has the authority to deny anyone fingerprinting services if it is determined that the applicant is not wearing an appropriate mask or poses any type of health or safety concerns.
