East Hartford, CT—The Town of East Hartford and the East Hartford Police Department welcomed four new police officers today at a ceremony held outside the East Hartford Public Safety Complex.

Officers Robert Gompper, Scott Cowan, Rocco Sansone III, and Shane Toland were administered the Oath of Office by East Hartford Town Clerk Robert Pasek, overseen East Hartford Police Chief Scott Sansom and members of the Department’s Command Staff.

“I would like to wish our newest recruits all the best as they soon begin rigorous training at the police academy,” said Mayor Marcia A. Leclerc. “I am proud to say that upon their successful graduation, these officers will be joining one of the finest police departments in the state.  I am confident they will uphold the East Hartford Police Department’s high ethical standards and will serve our community with pride and integrity.”

“We’re fortunate to be able to find such great recruits,” Chief Sansom said.  “There are many options for qualified candidates these days, so for them to select East Hartford says a lot about our agency and our community,” he explained.  “We look forward to having them join our Patrol Division, and anticipate these new East Hartford officers enjoying long careers here.”

Officer Robert Gompper, 29, has lived most of his life in the East Hartford area and previously worked for the Town of East Hartford Public Works Department.  Officer Scott Cowan, 28, was born and raised in the United Kingdom and now resides in Connecticut.  Officer Rocco Sansone III, 29, has lived most of his life in the greater-Hartford area.  Officer Shane Toland, 24, is long-time Connecticut resident, and he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Homeland Security from Endicott College.
