East Hartford Police Department Announces Graduation of 11th Session of Citizen Police Academy

East Hartford, CT - Chief Scott M. Sansom and the East Hartford Police Department announce the graduation of the eleventh East Hartford Citizen Police Academy session.  A formal ceremony was held on Wednesday, October 23rd in the Police Training Room at the East Hartford Public Safety Complex, 31 School Street, East Hartford, CT.

The Citizen Police Academy was held from 6:30 PM until 9:30 PM every Wednesday from September 4 through October 23, 2019.  Topics covered during the academy session included the history of the police department, police employment and training, legal standards, patrol and special unit operations, criminal investigations, evidentiary services, use of force, police and the public, and proactive policing efforts.  “A mutual understanding between police and the community is essential, and this Academy is a great opportunity to increase that level of understanding,” said Chief Sansom.  “The interest and enthusiasm of the class during this program inspires us to continue with it.  We’re already looking forward to announcing plans for the 12th Session,” Sansom said. 

Graduating members of the eleventh session were Brian Caesar, Rev. Kelly Jane Caesar, Evelyn Torres Colon, Cynthia Creller, Ricardo Figueroa, Cathy Flippen, Jesus Garcia, Laurie Holmes, Hannah Marshall, Katiria Melendez, Eric Myers, Johanna Negron, Delilah O'Neill, Kenneth Pariaug, Michael Ramos, Elsa Reyes, Barbara Rivera, Kristi St.John-Urciuoli, Jenilee Tedesco, and Liza Vega.
