East Hartford, CT— The East Hartford Police Department is excited to invite you to celebrate National "Coffee with a Cop" event. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 2 from 8 to 10 AM, at Dunkin Donuts, 364 Silver Lane in town.

The National "Coffee with a Cop" celebration began as part of National Community Policing Week in 2016 and now continues each year on the first Wednesday in October furthering efforts nationwide to bridge the gap between the community and law enforcement. Since that day in 2016, the East Hartford Police Department has hosted regular programs dedicated to encouraging communication and positive interactions between law enforcement and the public.

The event encourages residents to discuss with police their neighborhood, ask questions, share concerns, or stop by just to chat.

“Programs such as this build trust because in a short period of time, citizens and police officers get to know each other and discover mutual goals for the communities they live in and serve,” said Police Chief Scott Sansom. “We encourage everyone within this community – if you have a few moments – to please stop by for a chat. Everyone is welcome,” Sansom added.

The Coffee With A Cop program is recognized worldwide for building community trust and partnership. The event is open to the public. All are welcome.
