Winter Swim Lessons Begin January 5th

East Hartford Parks and Recreation Offering Winter Swim Lessons

East Hartford, CT— East Hartford Parks and Recreation continues to offer opportunities for residents to swim and now we are excited to announce another session of swim lessons beginning in early January.  Per the town’s current mask policy, all visitors ages 2 and older must wear masks when entering the building, in the locker rooms, or when moving about on deck, however, masks are to be removed when swimming. 

Group Swim Lessons at the Middle School Pool
The winter session of Group Swim Lessons will be held on Wednesday evenings beginning January 5^th, or on Saturday mornings beginning January 8^th.  Lessons are offered as an 8-week session and the fee for the session is $40 for residents or $50 for non-residents.  Pre-registration is required online at www.ehparks.org, and registration begins Thursday, December 9^th at 9am for residents and Tuesday, December 14^th at 9am for non-residents.  To view the winter session group lesson schedule, please click here. 

Public Swim at the Middle School Pool 
Aside from scheduled programs like swim lessons, general pool use for public swim is still limited to East Hartford residents only, and proof of residency is required.  The pool will not be available on school holidays, vacations, or during any other emergency closures.  The pool schedule is subject to change at any time and we recommend that interested swimmers register for our notification list for pool closures or public swim schedule changes.  Reservations for pool use are highly recommended.  Reservations are available for each week beginning Mondays at 9:00 AM, by calling the Parks and Recreation office at 860-291-7160.  Residents are permitted to sign up for up to four 30 minute slots per person per week.  If additional open slots remain, residents may sign up for additional slots between 3pm and 4pm on the day they wish to swim.   Upon arrival to the pool for your reserved swim times, proof of residency and daily sign in will be required. 

East Hartford Middle School Indoor Pool Weekly Schedule

• Open Swim (all ages) is held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-8:30pm, and on Fridays from 6:30 - 8:30pm. 
• Adult Lap Swim is held Monday - Friday evenings from 8:30-9:15pm. 
• Senior Swim is offered on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4:30-5:30pm.  This is a period of open swim for resident seniors to swim on their own. 

East Hartford Middle School is located at 777 Burnside Avenue, but the pool is only accessible from the school entrance on Scotland Road.
