Public Swim Offered For Residents at EHMS Indoor Pool Beginning September 1st

East Hartford, CT—With our outdoor pools now closed for the season, East Hartford Parks and Recreation is excited to announce that we are resuming our aquatics operations at the East Hartford Middle School Indoor Pool, offering opportunities for residents to continue swimming during the school year.  With the safety of our staff and swimmers in mind, we will be following specific safety procedures.  Pool use is limited to East Hartford residents only, and proof of residency is required.  The pool will not be available on days when there is no school.  The pool schedule is subject to change at any time and we recommend that interested swimmers register for our notification list for pool closures or public swim schedule changes.

As we ease back into indoor programming, as of September 1^st, 2021, the capacity of the pool is limited to 12 swimmers at a time, and reservations for pool use are highly recommended.  Reservations are available for each week beginning Mondays at 9:00 AM, by calling the Parks and Recreation office at 860-291-7160.  Residents are permitted to sign up for up to four 30 minute slots per person per week.  If additional open slots remain, residents may sign up for additional slots between 3pm and 4pm on the day they wish to swim.   Upon arrival to the pool for your reserved swim times, proof of residency and daily sign in will be required.  Per the town’s current mask policy, all visitors must wear masks when entering the building, in the locker rooms, or when moving about on deck, however, masks are to be removed when swimming. 

East Hartford Middle School Indoor Pool Weekly Schedule for September 1- 30, 2021

Public Swim for Residents will be offered on weekday evenings beginning September 1^st. 

• Open swim (all ages) will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-8:30pm, and on Wednesdays (Sept 1-29 only) and Fridays from 6:30 - 8:30pm.
• Adult Lap Swim will be held Monday - Friday evenings from 8:30-9:15pm.
• Senior Swim will be offered on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4:30-5:30pm.This will be a period for open swim for resident seniors to swim on their own.

Swim Lessons

We are still working on the details for swim lessons but we expect to be able to offer lessons for residents on Wednesday evenings or Saturday mornings beginning in October.  Please check our website (www.easthartfordct.gov/parks-recreation) and Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ehparks) for updates by mid-September.

East Hartford Middle School is located at 777 Burnside Avenue, but to access the pool you must use the pool entrance on Scotland Road.
