East Hartford Pools and Camps to Reopen On Tuesday, August 11, 2020

East Hartford, CT—The Town of East Hartford is pleased to announce the reopening of our summer camps and four of our outdoor pools on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. Town staff have worked tirelessly over the past week to clean up the significant damage caused by Tropical Storm Isaias that has affected our parks and pools.  Widespread power outages and large amounts of debris from downed trees and branches have delayed the return to our normal operations. 

Camps

All three of our camp sites at Gorman Park, Goodwin Park and Hockanum Park will resume operations on Tuesday for the remainder of our final week of camp. Campers will be able to enjoy pool time during the day as scheduled at all sites. 

Pools

All aquatic facilities, with the exception of Martin Pool, will resume regular public swim hours on Tuesday afternoon. This includes:

  • Drennan Pool - opens at 12:00 p.m.
  • Goldstar Pool - opens at 1:30 p.m.
  • Lord Pool - opens at 1:30 p.m.
  • Terry Pool - opens at 1:30 p.m.

Martin Pool will remain closed for the remainder of the summer due to continued power outages and widespread downed trees in the park.  Martin Park, along with all fields, pavilions and playground within the park, is currently closed as well. 

Extended Pool Season

Since Tropical Storm Isaias impacted an already shortened summer pool season, we are excited to announce that we will be extending our typical season and keeping some of our facilities open through the end of the month.  Please note our pool closing dates:

  • Goldstar Pool - Closing Sunday, August 16th at 5:00 p.m.
  • Drennan Pool - Closing Sunday, August 23rd at 5:00 p.m.
  • Lord Pool - Closing Sunday, August 30th at 5:00 p.m. 
  • Terry Pool - Closing Sunday, August 30th at 5:00 p.m.
