M&T Bank Plans Multicultural Branch on Main Street
M&T Bank plans to reopen the former Farmington Bank branch location at 957 Main Street in East Hartford following their integration with People's United Bank this September. The multicultural designation means that there will be services offered in a variety of languages, and bankers will be knowledgeable about the cultural nuances of the community they serve. This branch will replace People's United's former East Hartford Stop & Shop branch, which closed in January of 2021. People's United acquired Farmington Bank in 2018 and currently operates a drive-up ATM at the Main Street location.
Buffalo-based M&T Bank acquired Bridgeport's People's United Bank in April of 2022 and promised to provide $43 billion in loans, investments, and other financial support to underserved communities in conjunction with the merger plan.
