HOUSING REHABILITATION PROGRAM
The Town of East Hartford Grants Administration Office is now accepting applications for its Housing Rehabilitation Program.
The program provides 0% interest loans to assist low and moderate income property owners with eligible projects. Eligible projects may include repair or replacement of:
- handicapped barrier removal
- wiring and electrical services
- stairs, porches and decks
- roofs, gutters and chimneys
- furnace/boiler
- water heaters
- plumbing
Residences must be owner-occupied and have no more than four units. Applicants must not have received rehabilitation assistance from the Town during the previous five (5) years.
The Housing Rehabilitation Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant. Loans do not have to be paid back until the property is sold or ownership is transferred. Properties must be maintained in accordance with local Building and Property Maintenance codes.
Applications for the program are available below. Completed applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis as long as funding is available. Selected property owners must be current with their payment of Town of East Hartford taxes and have NO MORE than two liens on their property.
