East Hartford Companies at the Forefront of Innovation

Mayor Leclerc meeting with DXC Technology

One of the most important duties of being Mayor is taking the time to meet with the many innovative and cutting – edge businesses who are not only located right here in East Hartford, but are also committed to expanding with town. On June 28th, I, along with Chief Sansom, Finance Director Walsh, Development Director Buckheit, Town Planner Cormier, and State Senator Larson visited with DXC Technology on Hartland Street.

DXC Technology was created as a result of an April 2017 merger of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and Hewlett-Packard’s Enterprise (HPE) Services division. The company assists its clients with information technology services and consulting, including data analytics, software application development, cloud storage and network security. They serve industries ranging from banking, insurance, manufacturing, healthcare and government.

The East Hartford offices were formerly part of CSC, with a long history of serving the financial sector dating to 1992. Now as DXC Technology, they manage the portfolio for United Technologies Corporation. Since the merger in April, the company has grown from a $6 billion to a $25 billion enterprise. In addition to Connecticut-based clients such as UTC, Pratt & Whitney, General Dynamics and Sikorsky, DXC Technology has partnerships with such companies as SAP, IBM and Microsoft.

While they do business in over 70 countries, they are committed to their large footprint in Connecticut and especially East Hartford, with highly skilled, highly compensated, and highly mobile employees. Since 1991, the in-state labor force as grown from under 500 to approximately 1,500, with an average salary of $90,000. During our visit, the company highlighted their commitment by describing its “Connecticut for Connecticut for Connecticut” vision, meaning that they hire and train at their Connecticut locations residents who live in state and who attended a Connecticut college or university.

We enjoy having DXC Technology here in East Hartford, and appreciate their willingness to assist East Hartford and the State of Connecticut. I am impressed by the quality of service they provide, the bread of their partnerships, and the global reach that all stems from Hartland Street. They are important to our community, important to our state, and I look forward to seeing them expand here.
