From the beaches of Normandy to Fallujah and Kandahar, many members of our community have served our nation in the highest manner, dedicating their bodies, and their lives to the defense of our nation. Their service is integral and essential to maintaining our way of life. It is important to recognize the service and sacrifice of those who still live in our community, and remember those who do not, those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Many veterans suffered wounds, physical or otherwise, that may still affect their lives now that they have returned to civilian life. While there are many services available to help veterans, there is much we can do to help as well. Even simple things like recognizing them and thanking them for their service can go a long way toward making the vets in our town feel like a valued part of our community. It is the least we can do in return for their service.

So on this Veterans Day, I ask you to join me in thanking any and all veterans that you know, and reflecting on the hard work and sacrifice needed to build and strengthen our vibrant democracy.
