Voter registration forms are also available by mail. Contact the Office of the Secretary of the State by calling (860)-509-6100 or toll-free 1-(800)-540-3764. Please make sure you are using the most up-to-date forms.

Print the form, fill it out and bring or mail to:
Registrars of Voters, Town Hall, 740 Main Street, East Hartford, CT 06108.

You are not a voter until your application is approved by the Registrar of Voters. You should receive a confirmation within 3 weeks. If you do not, contact the Registrar in your town hall.

Connecticut has two major parties: Republican & Democrat. Connecticut also has numerous minor parties and a 3-month waiting period for switching parties.

Registration Cut-off: Registration by mail cut-off is eighteen (18) days before the election or primary. You may be able to register in person up until noon the day before the primary. For general elections, Connecticut offers Same Day Registration during the early voting period and on Election Day.

Are you eligible to vote?

Be at least 18 years old on, OR before, election day;
Have completed confinement and parole if previously convicted of a felony.

Voter Registration in Connecticut Libraries
Pursuant to the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 and Conn. Gen. Stats. Secs. 9-23n and 9-23o libraries in the State of Connecticut which are open to the public are required to offer voter registration services year-round. The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 required certain public agencies to provide this service and the Connecticut General Assembly extended this requirement to public libraries. Although some groups are involved in voter registration on a voluntary basis, please be aware that libraries are required by law to offer voter registration. Effective January 1, 2003, libraries and other voter registration agencies also are required to give a receipt upon submission of voter registration application. Receipt forms were distributed to public libraries by the Office of the Secretary of State prior to January 2003. This requirement was passed as part of Public Act 02-83.
