Summer Reading is for Everyone!

The East Hartford Public Library offers summer reading incentive programs with prizes for adults, teens, and children. Registration begins on Monday, June 8, when participants can start logging their reading and activities using our mobile-friendly online system.

The library’s summer reading program also counts toward the Governor's Summer Learning Challenge, a project of the Connecticut State Library and the Connecticut Department of Education.

Children and teens ages 0–17 will earn a book and prize just for signing up! To earn points on ReadSquared, children, teens, and families can complete reading goals or activities and log them online. Additionally, participants will earn a raffle ticket for each book or activity completed, which can be entered for a chance to win prizes at the library. And prizes aren’t just for kids—our adult summer reading program includes prizes, too! Stop by to learn more about the program and prizes.

To register, call us at 860-290-4330, stop by in person, or visit our website at www.easthartfordct.gov/library and click on the “Summer Reading” menu item on the left. Then choose the appropriate program (children, teen, or adult) and enter your information as prompted. We’re using ReadSquared software again this summer, which is also available as a mobile app, so you can log your activity wherever you are. The ReadSquared app is available in the App Store and Google Play.

Children and teens attending Parks & Recreation camp will be registered at camp. Families will receive a confirmation notice at the email address they provide to Parks & Recreation. This email will include login information and instructions on how to participate.

Celebrate the start of summer with us at our Summer Reading Kick-Off Party on Thursday, June 18, from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at Raymond Library! Register in person, meet community partners, and enjoy a special performance.

All ages can come to our special programs throughout the summer, including storytimes, a Minecraft program, art programs and more!
