Important Notice: Planning and Zoning and Inland Wetlands Commission Update

Effective July 1, 2025, the Planning and Zoning Commission is now the Planning, Zoning, and Inland Wetlands Commission. This unified commission consists of seven (7) full members and three (3) alternates. The Commission now holds the combined authority of the former Planning and Zoning Commission and the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission.

Meetings

The Commission meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in Town Hall. Please check the Meeting Schedule on this website for official meeting dates and times. Meetings are called at the discretion of the Chairperson and are open to the public. The Commission meeting schedule is available online

Planning & Zoning Commission Applications

Planning and development-related applications—whether for administrative (staff) review or for consideration by the Commission—must be submitted via the East Hartford Online Permitting Site.

Application fees will be calculated and communicated by staff following submission.

Commission Composition & Responsibilities

The Planning, Zoning, and Inland Wetlands Commission consists of seven (7) voting members and three (3) alternate members.

The Commission holds the full powers and duties of a planning commission, zoning commission, and inland wetlands and watercourses agency as provided by Connecticut State Statutes, municipal ordinances, and applicable regulations.

Plan of Conservation and Development Update

The Planning and Zoning Commission adopted the Town of East Hartford's 2025–2035 Plan of Conservation and Development on January 29, 2025. More information, including the full plan, is available on the 2024 POCD Webpage.
