The Planning Division helps guide East Hartford’s long-term physical development by providing support to the Planning and Zoning Commission and managing a wide range of planning-related applications and projects. We assist residents, businesses, and developers through the planning process while working to support smart growth, economic opportunity, and high quality of life throughout the community.

What We Do

Support the Planning and Zoning Commission:

• Prepare meeting materials, provide recommendations, and assist with public hearings.
• Review Land Use Applications: Coordinate the review of applications that require Planning Commission action.
• Guide Long-Range Planning: Contribute to plans that shape East Hartford’s future, such as the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD).
• Assist the Public: Help applicants, residents, and businesses understand planning processes and policies.
