Inspections & Permits

The Inspections and Permits Division now uses an online system for building permit applications. Contractors and residents may call with concerns and requests for in-person inspections at 860-291-7340.

The Inspections and Permits Division has three major areas of responsibility:

To administer the Connecticut State Building Code including issuing building and trade permits, reviewing construction documents, answering questions regarding the building code, performing construction inspections, and issuing certificates of occupancy.

Enforce the Town of East Hartford Zoning Regulations.

Enforce the Town of East Hartford Property Maintenance Code for both residential and commercial properties.

Monday - Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Thursday: 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Zoning Inspector Questions: 

Monday - Thursday 8:30 a.,m. - 12:00 p.m. - Friday 8:30 - 11:00 a.m.

Building Inspector Questions: 

Monday - Thursday:  8:30 - 9:00 a.m., 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. and  after 4:00 p.m.

Friday: 8:30 - 9:00 a.m.
