Building Division

The Building Division is responsible for reviewing permit applications and enforcing the Connecticut State Building Code to ensure that construction in East Hartford is safe, structurally sound, and code-compliant. We review plans, issue permits, and conduct inspections for residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects.

Our inspectors work closely with contractors, property owners, and other town departments to support safe development and property improvements throughout the community.

Office Hours

Inspector Walk-In Hours:
Monday – Wednesday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Thursday, 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM
Friday, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Please note that inspectors are often in the field conducting inspections during the day. Appointments outside of walk-in hours may be scheduled upon request.
