World War 1 Display on View in New Books Room

"Ready" plaque

The East Hartford Public Library is exhibiting a display of plaques highlighting town residents who died during the First World War and who are commemorated on the base of “Ready,” the statue commemorating East Hartford’s sacrifices in the First World War that sits on the library property at the corner of Main Street and Central Avenue.

The plaques offer pcitures and stories about the seventeen men and one woman who died while in service during World War I.

The display is on view in the New Books Room of the East Hartford Public Library.  The display is suitable for all ages. The exhibit is free and open to the public during the library’s operating hours: Monday-Thursday, 9 am – 8 pm; Friday- Saturday, 9 am – 5 pm.
