East Hartford, CT—The East Hartford Public Library invites you to celebrate creativity and innovation at an all-ages Maker Fair on Saturday, September 28 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM.

Join us for an afternoon of Maker activities and demonstrations, such as craft projects, a metal-stamping jewelry station, LEGO ™ robotics, a scavenger hunt, and a collaborative art installation that will take shape over the course of the afternoon.

Additionally, visitors can check out our 3D printers and other Maker technology, while enjoying interactive green screen activities in the library’s Creative Commons on the second floor, where we will also have the Makerspace Paper Theatre on display for public viewing.

The Makerspace Paper Theatre was developed at the library by artist Marc Pettersen in collaboration with community members and with the support from an Artist Project Grant from the Department of Economic and Community Development, Connecticut Office of the Arts, which also receives support for the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. The project features scenes of East Hartford made from cut paper and enhanced with video projection, accompanied by audio recordings of stories told by community members.

Curious about our Makerspace but can’t attend the Maker Fair? Stop by for Makerspace Open Hours, held every Tuesday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM and every Thursday from 6:00 – 7:30 PM. For projects and opportunities with a creative flair, stop by to the Creative Arts open hours on Mondays between 4:00 – 7:00. Be sure to check the library’s online events calendar for exceptions such as holidays.

The East Hartford Public Library is located at 840 Main St., East Hartford. For more information about the Maker Fair and other programs, visit our online events calendar.
