Town of East Hartford Reinstitutes Face Mask Requirements For Town Facilities Regardless of Vaccination Status

East Hartford, CT — Effective Wednesday, December 8, 2021, the Town of East Hartford is reinstituting face mask requirements for all employees and visitors in all town facilities regardless of their vaccination status. This change comes following the increased number of infections across the state and the Town of East Hartford and for the safety of our employees and the public.

Individuals visiting Town of East Hartford facilities must wear a face mask at all times. Remote services are available online, by phone and via drop box for those who are unable to comply with the mask requirements. Information on remote services is available on the Town website at www.easthartfordct.gov or by calling the Town Hall at 860-291-7100.

“The number of cases among East Hartford’s residents has more than doubled to an average daily rate of 27 per 100,000 Town population and our lab positive rate is approximately 6 percent,” said Mayor Mike Walsh. “Because we are seeing a high level of community transmission, we will require employees and the public to wear a mask in all town facilities. Local businesses and organizations are strongly encouraged to implement a masking policy for indoor spaces to reduce the risk of transmission among employees and customers.”

Masks reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread when they are consistently and appropriately used by individuals, especially when physical distancing measures are difficult to maintain.

Evidence continues to indicate that fully vaccinated people are less likely to become infected with COVID-19 and transmit it to others. Please be advised that the Health Department and local healthcare providers continue to offer free and accessible vaccination clinics throughout town.
