Mold

Molds are a type of fungus found universally in our indoor and outdoor environments. Mold spores travel easily through the air to populate new environments but mold cannot survive without a source of water. Addressing the source issue is the most important step to stop the growth of mold.

If you are concerned about mold inside your home, please contact the Inspections & Permits Department to schedule an inspection. Property maintenance inspectors will look for potential sources of moisture/humidity (water leaks, broken exhaust fans, damp basements etc.) contributing to mold growth and will follow up with the property owner to correct the source issue. If excessive mold is found, the health department will be notified to provide guidance on clean up. Air quality testing is never recommended as there are no regulatory standards for mold.
