Town of East Hartford Brewer Street Reconstruction

East Hartford, CT—The Town of East Hartford is administering a project involving Reconstruction of Brewer Street. Preliminary Design is complete and the project is scheduled for construction under both the Federal STP-Urban Program (Project 42-318) and The Local Transportation Improvement Program (LOTCIP - Project L042-001) administered by the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

It is the Town’s and the State’s policy to keep persons informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns to assist in the project’s development. The Town will conduct an informational meeting Thursday, June13th, 2019 7:00 PM (doors open at 6:30) at the Town Hall Second Floor, Welling Conference Room, 740 Main Street, East Hartford, CT  06108. This meeting facility is ADA accessible. Individuals needing language assistance may request services by contacting the East Hartford Department of Public Works, Engineering Division (860-291-7380) at least 5 business days prior to the meeting.

It is planned to reconstruct approximately 3,200 feet of Brewer Street from Main Street to the vicinity of Jefferson Lane. The improvements include full reconstruction of the roadway pavement, installation of granite curbing, sidewalks and ADA ramps, crosswalks, concrete pads at bus stop locations, signing and pavement markings. Also included are improvements at the intersection with Main Street and at Contractors Road to accommodate turning movements for trucks/tractor trailers.

Based upon a preliminary assessment of Project No. 42-318, the construction cost will be approximately $6 Million. The Federal Highway Administration will provide 80% of the construction cost with the State providing 10% and the Town providing 10% for this project. Based upon a preliminary assessment of project no. L042-001, the construction cost will be approximately $1.8 Million. The State will provide 100% of the construction cost for this portion of the project.
