Patron Computer Use

Time

  • All patrons, regardless of where they live, may have two hours of computer usage at the East Hartford Public Library per day. At login, patrons receive two hours of time. An additional hour may be granted at the discretion of the librarian based on patron need and demand for computers.
  • These hours need not be consecutive. Patrons may use a period of time, leave, then come back to use their remaining time at any point during the hours that the library is open.
  • Exceptions for extending the three-hour time limit will be made only for patrons needing time to complete a job application, take pre-employment testing, and other rare circumstances.
  • Patrons are advised to pay close attention to time warnings issued by Cassie, our print management system. When the session logs out, any work that is in-progress will be lost and can not be recovered.

  • We prefer that patrons use their own library cards to log onto library computers.
  • Guest passes are available for patrons who do not have library cards with them (no ID necessary).
  • East Hartford residents should be encouraged to register for library cards before being offered guest passes.
  • Using the cards of other patrons to extend time on the computers may result in both cards being blocked from computer usage for a period of time.

Printing

  • Printing is 25 cents per page (regardless of whether the document is black-and-white or in color).
  • Printing is cash-only (we do not accept credit or debit cards).
  • Money added to a patron's account via their library card may be used for future printing.
  • Money added to a guest pass does not carry over for future use. Patrons are advised to add the exact amount of their printing costs to the guest pass immediately before sending the print job.
  • Print money may not be transferred from a library card to a guest pass (or vice versa). Refunds for unused print money will not be given under any circumstances
