Pop-Up Holiday Cards

Just in time for the holiday season! Create your own custom pop-up cards to give to your loved ones. Register for a reminder. For all ages. Please note that this program will be held in Meeting Room 1.
 
DIY Jibbitz in Tinkercad (3D Printing)
Thursday, December 8, 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Come to the Makerspace and learn how to design 3D prints. Make your own custom Jibbit for your Crocs that we will print and have available for you to pick up. Best suited for ages 10 and up. Please register.
 
Mint Milk Bath and Sugar Lip Scrub
Thursday, December 15, 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Holidays stressing you out and need to relax? Looking for a quick, but thoughtful, handmade gift for someone? Join us to make Mint Milk Bath for a luxurious soak and a Sugar Lip Scrub to combat dry winter lips with natural ingredients found in your pantry. For ages 10 – adult. Please register.

Have a fun and relaxing evening in the Makerspace painting a paint-by-number inspired by Van Gogh. Registration required at least 72 hours in advance. For ages 10 and up.
 
Clothespin Snowflakes

While the holiday décor may be put away, join us to craft these snowy sparklers and add some twinkle to these dark winter days. For ages 10 – adult. Please register.
 
Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Fruit Face Self-Portrait Collage
Thursday, January 12, 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Artist spotlight: Giuseppe Arcimboldo! We will be making self-portraits by collaging items you don’t usually think of when you see a portrait. No registration required. For all ages.
 
Make Your Own Mini Loom
Thursday, January 26, 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Have a fun and relaxing evening in the Makerspace weaving on a handmade loom to create a little woven masterpiece! For ages 10 and up. No registration required.
 
M.C. Escher, Tesselations
Thursday, February 2, 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Artist spotlight, M.C. Escher, the father of modern tessellations! We will be making our own custom tessellation creation. Register for a reminder. 
 
Silhouette Portraits
Thursday, February 9, 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Create a classic silhouette for yourself or as a special gift for a loved one. We’ll use Makerspace technology to modernize this art form. Bring a digital picture of the silhouette subject (such as a child or pet) in profile against a plain background, or we can take your photo at the class. For ages 10 – adult. Please register.
 
Picasso, Paint by Number
Thursday, February 23, 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Have a fun and relaxing evening in the Makerspace painting a paint-by-number inspired by modern artist Pablo Picasso. Registration required at least 72 hours in advance. For ages 10 and up.

During Open Hours, Makerspace staff will be hand to demonstrate our Makerspace technologies, including 3D printers, a Carvey desktop CNC machine, a Silhouette cameo and more. The East Hartford Public Library Makerspace is located at the Raymond Library, 840 Main St., East Hartford, CT 06108.
