Meet the Artists
Juliana Tedesco is 11 years old and entering Sunset Ridge Middle School in the fall as a 6th grader. She loves to paint and draw, as well as play baseball in East Hartford Little League and plays the violin.

Jean Della Rocca studied art as a child at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford. Presently, she studies art at the East Hartford Senior Center, where she recently painted a collection consisting of landscapes, animals, and various flower and butterfly paintings. Art is her passion in life.

Georgia Stathoulas remembers drawing as early as first grade. Growing up in Greece, however, she did not have the opportunity to study art in school and as a result, did not discover her passion for painting until later in  life. In her paintings, she strives to capture the simple moments in time and show the world around her as she sees it.  Part of her inspiration comes from the beautiful seascapes of her homeland Greece but most often children are the central focus of her work. Her favorite models are her two granddaughters Isabella and Sofia.

Patricia Caratasios draws and paints photos of areas of Greece and the USA with acylic paint on canvases. She also takes photos during her travels and brings the photos alive through amazing colorful hand-painted canvases.

East Hartford is the hometown for artist Louita Jorgensen, who had the privilege of teaching in the school system for thirty years of which four were teaching art. She has a Masters in Art Education from CCSU. Her art is realistic and she has shown work at PAAM and has done multimedia pieces.

Artist Ioanna Kalas is a wife and mother of two. She was born in Greece, and at the age of two moved with her family to Paris, where she was raised by wonderful parents along with her one sister and two brothers. Her two favorite things to do in her free time are drawing and yoga.

Catherine Elliott currently has a studio/gallery in Simsbury, Connecticut. For over thirty years she's painted in the Impressionist style and have been plein air painting since high school. Her work as a contemporary artist is evocative of the American Impressionistic style of painting. She paints with a fresh liberation of color and light offering the viewer a sense of awe and peace. Her work explores atmospheric conditions capturing a moment in time and place invoking the viewer to intimately see the sublime.

Photographer John Hsu is a naturalized U.S. citizen from Taiwan. He worked for 32 years for The Nestle Co. as a food technologist and has been living in Connecticut for 56 years. Hsu has had 26 solo photo exhibits in Connecticut and won the Best Photography Award in 2011 New Britain Museum of American Juried Members' Exhibition { " Labyrinth- Goodspeed Opera House " ) and that picture is a water image photo. He has realized the ideal photo-art picture is water image and has published seven water image books in Taiwan.

Originating from the south Indian state of Kerala, artist Bina Nair has had a lifelong love of arts and crafts. She enjoys singing, painting, drawing, and photography. She is fascinated by cultural history and mythology.

Kaitlyn Caplette is a 17 year old aspiring artist. She's been inspired by her father’s artworks and ever since, she's been practicing her skills. She makes art as a way of expressing emotions and evoking emotion from others. Recently she has found herself creating darker, creepier artwork as a way of investigating the topic of dreams and the subconscious mind. Her artwork is an interpretation of nightmares and how they’re perceived. She's going to be attending University of Hartford, majoring in Illustration. She hopes that her art will evoke many emotions and inspire others!

Ari Hernandez is a 23-year-old multimedia artist who enjoys creating character-driven illustrations. The Iliad inspires their latest work, and they often derive inspiration from literature and film. In the past year, they moved to East Hartford to live with their grandmother, mother, and younger sibling. During that time, they've found the library to be a place of comfort, allowing them to focus on developing their skills and clear their thoughts. Ari is striving for a career in the visual arts and has a great appreciation for community and creativity.

Georges Annan-Kingsley is a visual artist, holder of a master's in sculpture from the distinguish National Superior Fine Art School of Paris - France and a bachelor's in painting from the Applied School of Art in Bingerville - Cote D'Ivoire. He also holds a certificate in Art Administration from the museum of Louvre Paris - France and another certificate in social services from Capital Community College, Hartford CT.
He lives in Hartford Connecticut where he has done two murals and many exhibitions, with different awards and a painting in President Barack Obama collection at the White House.

Artist Destiny Mendez notes that the COVID pandemic has affected many lives. During shutdown sadness, anger, confusion, stress, fear came upon individuals. But we have hope for a cure for this virus.

Using an oil paint medium very much like oversized crayons called Paintstiks®, artist Diana Lyn Cote has perfected an unique application known as the ”Côté Squiggle.” She paints by calling upon her "inner three-year-old" and “scribbles” layer upon layer of erratic lines of color on the canvas. This eventually leads to a visual weaving of these individual lines into a textural tapestry that is both subtle and richly elegant. This is especially evident on larger canvases where the application holds equal importance to the study of light. Understanding the colors that make up the subtle or dramatic effects of light, and applying them in her unique way, is the focus of her journey as an artist. Diana has been showing her work for nearly three decades with a diverse following of both corporate and private collectors.

Raymond E. Tubbs has an academic background in liberal arts, education, and art history, and has been involved in the world of the fine arts since 1969, both in the United States and Europe. Beginning as a partner and director of an art gallery for ten years, he moved on as an art dealer, artist agent, independent curator, consultant, grant reviewer, editor and writer.
