new library database

East Hartford, CT— The East Hartford Public Library is pleased to announce that, thanks to generous funding support from the Raymond Library Company, it has acquired two new databases from Gale: Miss Humblebee’s Academy and Gale LegalForms.

Miss Humblebee's Academy is designed for children ages 3 to 6 and assists them in building foundational literacy skills and preparing for kindergarten. Friendly cartoon characters guide the learning activities, making the program easy-to-use, and offers hundreds of lessons, spanning all major academic subjects. Children can learn while having fun in a safe online classroom environment with no pop-ups, ads, or links to other websites. Weekly progress reports, assessments at regular intervals, and parent observation checklists are all available to help measure each child's proficiency, learning outcomes, and readiness for kindergarten.

“The East Hartford Public Library plays an instrumental role in ensuring literacy and educational success of our residents, and these resources will provide additional valuable support,” said Mayor Marcia Leclerc.

Families can access Miss Humblebee's Academy for free from home or on-the-go via a mobile device. Some portions of the curriculum are also available offline in the form of printables and practice worksheets.

"Public libraries do a lot to support the life-long learning needs of community, and offering Miss Humblebee's Academy ensures that we're helping our youngest patrons prepare for kindergarten and beyond," said Sarah Kline Morgan, Library Director.

From Gale, a Cengage company, Gale LegalForms offers an easy-to-use, state-by-state and step-by-step approach to addressing basic legal matters, such as developing a will, conducting real estate transactions including rental or lease agreements, and more. Users have access to thousands of customizable online legal documents that are available anytime, anywhere.

Additionally, patrons have access to a legal dictionary, legal questions and answers, and a directory of attorneys sorted by area of practice.

According to Sarah Kline Morgan, Library Director, Gale LegalForms delivers real-world legal information to residents in usable and customizable formats, and simplifies common law transactions. This database will help library users take greater control over their legal affairs.

To access both databases, visit the Digital Resources page on the Library’s website at https://www.easthartfordct.gov/library/digital-resources. Patrons will need a library card to use the database.
