East Hartford Public Library is Participating in Virtual CT Open House Day 2021 Virtual Tour Highlights Notable Artifacts from the Library’s Museum Collection

CT open house day

East Hartford, CT— The East Hartford Public Library is participating in this year’s virtual CT Open House day on June 12, 2021.

Now in its seventeenth year, CT Open House Day is sponsored by the Connecticut Office of Tourism. The event is designed to inspire Connecticut residents to learn about the amazing experiences in their own backyard, so that they may spread the word to future visitors and guests. Art galleries, museums, theaters, historic properties, attractions, restaurants, and other key tourism sites throughout the state of Connecticut are invited to participate.

In honor of the occasion, the East Hartford Public Library is offering a virtual tour of five highlights from the library’s museum collection:

  • the J57 Jet Engine mode
  • a painting by noted local artist Jessie Goodwin Preston
  • early Connecticut-made glassware
  • materials about and related to Pratt & Whitney and
  • a large mural by artist Ralph Lewis Nelson

Head of Reference & Cultural Assets Manager Jason Pannone will lead the tour.

The East Hartford Public Library is thrilled to be able to share these gems from our collection virtually and offering a video tour will allow people to learn more about the rich history of East Hartford.

The tour may be viewed on the library’s YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/MUtY1LC95Hg at any time.
