2023 Summer Family Fun Nights


Join EHYS for Summer Family Fun

Family Fun Events for summer of 2023. Read below for more information and to register.

 

EHYS invites East Hartford families to join us for one or all of our Summer Family Fun events.  These are all in-person and outside at our 50 Chapman Place office.  To find us, look for the painted fence at the back of the building.  These events are meant for the whole family and are not drop-off events for youth.  Please plan for at least one adult to attend with the youth (no matter their age).

Registration guarantees an entry into that night's raffle & winners must be present at the time of drawing.  Families can stop by without registration but we can't guarantee enough supplies.  Please register, spread the word, and join us! :)

 

Creative Crafting 
Wednesday, July 12th
5:00 – 6:15 PM
Join in the crafting fun!  A variety of crafts will guarantee every family member finds at least one thing they're excited about! 
Each craft will have all the supplies needed and directions, but we encourage you to make it your own.  There's no wrong way to craft!! :) 
Raffle: Family choice from a variety of items and gift cards. There will be three raffle winners.

What's better than a night outside with live music?  Marc covers a wide variety of music from multiple generations.  There are guaranteed to be a few songs that make you want to sing along...and maybe even get up and dance!

Family Mindfulness

Mindfulness, simply put, is being focused on the present moment. This skill improves emotional awareness and reduces stress. A parent can help their child achieve mindfulness by modeling mindfulness themselves, or by teaching their child to focus on the present moment. Join us in exploring different activities that can be used at home - or anywhere else - to help build mindfulness skills.  Families will leave having experienced multiple mindfulness activities, with a list of ways to practice mindfulness at home, and with items to start a quiet corner (a quiet, reflective space to take time to help you gather your emotions) in their homes.

La atención plena, en pocas palabras, se está enfocando en el momento presente. Esta habilidad mejora la conciencia emocional y reduce el estrés. Un padre puede ayudar a su hijo a lograr la atención plena modelando la atención plena ellos mismos o enseñándole a su hijo a concentrarse en el momento presente. Únase a nosotros para explorar diferentes actividades que se pueden usar en casa, o en cualquier otro lugar, para ayudar a desarrollar habilidades de atención plena. Las familias se irán habiendo experimentado múltiples actividades de atención plena, con una lista de formas de practicar la atención plena en el hogar y con elementos para comenzar un rincón tranquilo (un espacio tranquilo y reflexivo para tomarse el tiempo para ayudarlo a reunir sus emociones) en sus hogares. The Town of East Hartford Youth Services Program (as defined below, “Program”) involves a variety of physical activities and there is an element of risk involved, which each participant must assume (including injury, disability or death). I affirm that my child’s health is adequate and not under a physician’s care for any undisclosed condition that bears upon my child’s fitness to participate in the Program. The undersigned hereby agrees: 1. I fully assume all risks associated with utilization of and participation in the program, and agree not to sue and hereby release the Town of East Hartford, it's agents, servants, employees, volunteers, elected officials, boards and commissions (collectively “The Town) , from all liability should an injury to me or my child occur during participation in the program. 2. I, for myself and for my heirs, executors, administrators, and legal representatives, agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Town, from any and all claims, suits or demands by anyone arising from my use of or participation in the program. 3. If I am a parent or guardian signing on behalf of a child or ward, I make these representations and agreements on behalf of my child or ward. 4. I give permission to the Youth Services Department to use any photo and/or video taken during participation for promotional materials
