East Hartford Youth Services Marijuana Prevention Campaign to Begin March 2022.

Marijuana:'Legal' Doesn't Mean Healthy or Harmless-Get the Facts!
Social Media Marijuana Prevention

East Hartford, CT— The East Hartford Youth Services is launching a marijuana prevention social media campaign starting March 2022.

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), "In 2019, 37% of US high school students reported lifetime use of marijuana and 22% reported use in the past 30 days.Past-year vaping of marijuana also remained steady in 2020 following large increases in 2018 and 2019."

Research shows that marijuana use can be harmful to youth's health and brain development, lead to experimentation with other drugs and substances, and be dangerous for a number of reasons, including a recent trend in marijuana laced with Fentanyl. Though it is not physically addictive in the same manner as many other drugs, marijuana use disorder and dependence happens easily and often with continued use. Like all other addictions, it’s easier for youth to not start than try to stop, once they are hooked.

Get the facts, so you can start the conversation with your child. To help start the conversation East Hartford Youth Services will share facts about youth marijuana use each week on their Facebook page @EHYSB, beginning March 14th. Follow us to learn more!
