Emergency Food and Shelter Assistance Available to Eligible Residents: Assistance Available Through East Hartford Health & Social Services 

The Town of East Hartford has been allocated funds through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP).

The EFSP allows the East Hartford Department of Health and Social Services to help carry out its mission of assisting those with adverse living conditions within the Town of East Hartford.

This program is intended to supplement and expand the ongoing work of the East Hartford Department of Health and Social Services to provide shelter, food, and supportive services to individuals and families who are experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, homelessness and/or hunger. No individual, family or household may be charged a fee for service with relation to assistance received under EFSP.

Examples of eligible services and expenditures may include:

  •  Food purchases
  •  Rent/Mortgage (up to 3 months or 90 days per phase)
  •  Small equipment purchases up to $300 per item (e.g., microwave)
  •  Utility Services (gas, electric, water) up to 3 months or 90 days per phase
