Town of East Hartford Participates in Greenlight a Vet Program

(November 6, 2015) East Hartford, CT- In honor of Veteran’s Day, which will occur on Wednesday, November 11, Mayor Marcia A. Leclerc and the Town of East Hartford are proud to announce that they will be participating in the “Greenlight a Vet” program from Friday until Veteran’s Day, with the installation of two green lights in front of Town Hall.

Greenlight a Vet is a program started by Walmart, which encourages businesses, organizations and municipalities to replace one of more of their light bulbs with a green bulb, showing solidarity and honor for all of our country’s veterans. According to Walmart, a green light means “go” and that’s what veterans are known for - their ability to take action quickly no matter the challenge. They demonstrate great leadership skills in any situation and represent the best of America. Their involvement in communities is central to our nation’s success.

“As a town, we have a strong veteran population who have committed their life to fighting for our nation’s freedom and are now integrally involved in this community,” Mayor Leclerc said. “This is a small token of our gratitude.”
