Outdoor Pools Are OPEN!

(June 20, 2018) East Hartford, CT – Mayor Marcia Leclerc is happy to announce that East Hartford’s five outdoor pools are now open for the season.

For residents of East Hartford, admission to the pools is free, while for out-of-town individuals the fee is $5 per person, including children. However, pool passes can be purchased at $10 per week or $30 for the summer.

The open outdoor pools include:

  • Terry, at Hockanum Park
  • Martin, at Martin Park
  • Drennan, at McAuliffe Park
  • Lord, at Gorman Park
  • Goldstar, at Goodwin Park.

All outdoor pools will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. All children 6 years old and under must be accompanied by a person who is at least 16 years old and a child must be within arms-reach at all times.

Children ages 7-15, must provide an ID to prove residency, whether they are by themselves or with an adult. Parks and Recreation ID cards are available at the office, located at 50 Chapman Place for $6 and are valid for three years. Another acceptable form of ID is a 2017-18 East Hartford Public School ID.

The proof of residency is also required for adults. Among the acceptable forms of ID are driver’s license/permit or a state-issued ID card. Those individuals without the proof of residency will be charged the non-resident rate.

Additionally, there will be a series of aquatic recreation opportunities offered throughout the summer. They will include two splash parties on Sunday, July 22 at 1 p.m. at Lord Pool and on Friday, July 27, at 5 p.m. at Martin Park.

Finally, there are a number of swim lessons offered Monday through Thursday. Swim sessions offered to residents for $40 and to non-residents for $50.
