East Hartford, CT—The East Hartford Health Department is excited to once again offer a Certified Food Safety Manager Review Class and Exam on March 23rd, 2020 at the East Hartford Community Cultural Center. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 20, 2020. Class size is limited to 20 people and the class is being offered to residents and non-residents alike. Attendees who pass the exam will receive a Food Safety Manager certification from the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals.

Certified Food Managers are an essential part of the food safety culture that ensures customers’ safety from foodborne illnesses. The Food Safety Manager Certification Program assesses the knowledge and skills of entry-level food managers, satisfies “person in charge” regulations, and promotes food safety culture.

The cost of the class and exam is $75, which includes a food safety manager textbook, 2-hour review of the material, and the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals Exam. The course is suitable for restaurant and commercial food service managers, wait staff, chefs, bartenders, hosts/hostesses, students, cooks, shift leaders.

To apply, participants can complete ONLINE REGISTRATION or fill out the registration form in person available at the East Hartford Health Department office located in the Town Hall, 740 Main Street. Cash or checks in the amount of $75 are acceptable. Please make checks payable to the East Hartford Health Department, Town of East Hartford to reserve your spot. Once your payment is received, you may pick up the textbook at the Health Department. Please be sure to allow yourself enough time to read and study the textbook before coming to the review and exam session. Preparing ahead of time is essential to passing the exam.

A valid photo ID is required to take the examination. Please note that while the exam is available in English, Spanish, Modern Chinese or Traditional Chinese, the textbook and in-class review are only available in English
