Christmas Tree Disposal Info

The East Hartford Public Works Department crews will be picking up Christmas trees for a three-week period from Wednesday, December 26, 2018 through Friday, January 11, 2019, weather permitting. Collection of the trees is generally on the same day as trash collection. Trees should be placed on the curb near trash bins with no plastic bags or decorations. Should the curbside collection be delayed due to snow or unforeseen circumstances, residents are asked to leave the trees at the curbPlease do not remove them from the curb. 

Residents are also encouraged to bring their Christmas trees to the Transfer Station on Ecology Drive for disposal. Residents are not required to have a bulky waste permit when delivering only a Christmas tree. Normal Transfer Station hours are Monday, Tuesday and Friday 7:15 a.m. to Noon and 12:30 p.m. to 2:45 P.M. Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. first and third Saturdays of the month, holidays excluded.

Please be reminded that weekly trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day starting on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 and through Saturday January 5, 2019 due to the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. The Transfer Station and Administrative Office will also be closed on December 25, 2018 and January 1, 2019.
