The East Hartford Transfer Station Hours (holidays excluded)

Monday, Tuesday and Friday7:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Closed for Lunch11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Reopen 12:30 p.m. to 2:35 p.m.

The Transfer Station is also open the first and third Saturday of the month from 8:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

BULKY WASTE INFORMATION & PROCESS


Bulky Waste: 

Effective July 1, 2022, residents no longer need a permit for the curbside pick-up of bulky waste.  Residents may call All American Waste at 860-289-7850 for an appointment for curbside bulky waste pick-up. Single and 2-family properties will receive two (2) FREE pick-ups per unit for each fiscal year, July to June. Three (3) to six (6) family units will receive four (4) FREE pick-ups per unit for each fiscal year.  All 1-6 family properties may schedule additional pick-ups after their FREE appointments at a fee of $25 each to be paid by credit or debit card. Only 6 items are to be placed on the curb per appointment and a list of acceptable and unacceptable items is available here.

  • Building/demolition debris including roof shingles, dry wall, lumber and siding (with a copy of a building permit)
  • Swimming pools, decks, sheds, doghouses, wood or metal fences
  • Appliances
  • Brush (no stumps)
  • Tires (passenger vehicle size)
  • Car batteries
  • Residential size tractors and lawn mowers, snowblowers (with oil and fuel removed)
  • Furniture
  • Rugs
  • Recyclables
  • Bicycles
  • Large toys
  • Gas grills (no propane tank)
  • Miscellaneous metal items
  • Yard Waste (leaves, grass, and twigs) contained only in compostable Kraft paper bags. 
  • Used motor oil
  • Single stream recyclables, including corrugated cardboard
  • Electronics (including TVs, monitors, computers, cell phones and printers)
  • Mattresses and box springs (no futon mattresses)
  • Textiles (clothing, shoes, household linens, bags, belts, stuffed animals) contained in plastic bags
  • Paint Care approved paint products.

The following items SHALL NOT be disposed of at the transfer station:

  • Hazardous wastes, including batteries, call (860) 278 3809 for hazardous waste collection information
  • Concrete and masonry materials
  • Soil
  • Stumps
  • Propane tanks
