It is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week!

Telecommunicators Week

Starting Sunday April 10, we are celebrating public safety communications professionals who dedicate their lives serving the public on that thin gold line. The EHPD’s Communications center is typically the initial point of contact for citizens in need of assistance within the Town of East Hartford. Telecommunicators, working in Communications, are responsible for dispatching Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services within East Hartford. Every day Telecommunicators provide carefully sequenced and medically-sound care instructions that give the caller and bystanders the ability to render important and often critically needed lifesaving procedures.

Between the thin RED, WHITE, and BLUE lines of public safety lies the thinnest GOLD line.  The gold line represents those who rarely are seen but mostly are heard. The calm voice in the dark night. DISPATCHERS. The golden glue that holds it all together.

To our East Hartford Emergency Dispatchers: You deserve recognition. You deserve respect. You might even deserve a cape! Thank you for all you do.
