Parking Ticket Policies and Procedures

Tickets are issued by the East Hartford Police Department.

Ticket Cycle: 

Once violation notices have been issued by the Police Department, a carbon copy is turned over to the Department of Finance by the Police Department. Tickets are then entered on the QDS system. Once tickets are on the system, payments of fines are ready to be accepted by the Tax Office. Should someone come in to pay a fine prior to a ticket being input on the system, it will be processed in the Tax Office on the system with partial information, waiting to be input fully on the system.

Time line to pay fines:

Fines must be paid in 10 calendar days starting on the issuing date to pay original fine.

Fines must be paid OR USPS post marked in 10 calendar days to avoid doubling. Fines Double on the 11th day.

The number of days counted includes the day the ticket was issued, weekends and holidays.

Appeals Process:

Appeals from a violation notice may be made within ten (10) days of the date of notification.

Mail Fines To:

Town of East Hartford, Collector of Revenue, 50 Chapman Pl, East Hartford, CT 06108.

Check or Money Order should be made payable to the Town of East Hartford.

Paying with Cash:

While town hall is closed for renovations, in-person and cash payments will not be available.

Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Reminder Notices:

Notices are sent out once the ticket has been put on the system by the Finance Department.

Delinquent Statements:

Delinquent statements are to be sent out quarterly.

Returned Mail:

All mail that is returned for a bad address is researched in an effort to re-address with a valid address. Accounts are noted accordingly.
