East Hartford South End Camera

East Hartford, CT -  In October 2021, the Street Security Camera system went live. The camera system was installed for the primary purpose of deterring crime, enhancing criminal investigations, and improving the quality of life for members of the community. Twelve locations were installed throughout the north end of town, which were situated in publicly accessible areas and utilized in a transparent, professional, and ethical manner. In July of 2022, we began the process of installing three camera locations in the south end of town. These locations were outlined in the original project proposal and funded utilizing monies already allocated for this project. The three locations are as follows;

  •  Pole #1-East Hartford Fire Department, Station 5, 141 Brewer Street.
  •  Pole #2-Main Street at Brewer Street.
  •  Pole #3-High Street adjacent to Wendy’s, 303 Main Street.

There was a significant delay in the completion of this work due to supply chain issues and because Pole #3 was knocked down in November as the result of a motor vehicle accident. The pole was reinstalled recently and our vendor, Vulcan, is making preparations to complete installation work within the next few weeks. Once these three locations are live, it will complete the scope of the camera project as outlined in the original Capital Improvement Project. Thus far, the camera systems have proven to be highly effective in helping solve crime, reduce the number of hours necessary to investigate crimes within its view, and has brought much needed closure to crime victims. We are excited to announce these three locations and expect they will provide similar assistance to our citizens in the south end of Town.
