East Hartford Police Department 3rd Annual Youth Summer Basketball Program

The East Hartford Police Department is thrilled to announce that its basketball program is coming back for yet another successful year. The program began two years ago as a result of a collaborative approach of local police officers to create a positive community outreach project. The basketball program showed a significant demand in town, calling for another season. The program is free and it is designed for boys and girls who have completed grades 5-8.

This program is designed to build relationships between the East Hartford Youth, Police Officers, and the community through positive engagement, and to provide a structured environment to learn, develop, and improve their basketball skills. The staff, made up of East Hartford Police Officers, will focus on individual and team fundamental skills.   Officers will emphasize the importance of teamwork, respect, attention to detail, effective communication, and knowledge of the game. The goal is for everyone to improve their skills, have FUN, and get to know a police officer in town.

There is no limit on the number of young residents that can participate in the program and the East Hartford police officers encourage all eligible youths to register.

Pre-registrations not required. Participant’s parent or guardian must complete registration forms on site.
