How do I dispose of Household Hazardous Waste?

Many common products that we use contain hazardous chemicals that, with repeated or excessive contact may lead to lung problems, brain and nerve damage, cancer and even death. A product is considered hazardous if it is toxic, flammable, corrosive, or reactive. Labels for hazardous materials may say Danger  Warning, Caution, caustic, combustible, oxidizer or poison.

Do not put hazardous wastes in your trash barrel. The MDC holds households hazardous waste collection days in the spring and fall. East Hartford resident may dispose of hazardous wastes at any of the schedule collection days including those held in other towns. For more information visit www.themdc.com.
