All persons liable to pay taxes in the Town of East Hartford are hereby notified the Town of East Hartford has a bill and warrant to collect a town tax of 49.92 mills on a dollar for Real Estate and Personal Property and 45.00 mills on the dollar for Motor Vehicles on the Grand List of October 1, 2019.

REAL ESTATE, MOTOR VEHICLE AND PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX BILLS

1ST INSTALLMENTS DUE JULY 1, 2020

All escrowed real estate taxes, and all real estate taxes due from landlords (or any taxpayer that rents or leases property to tenants or lessees) that have not applied for, or have not been approved for, the Town’s Tax  Deferment Program, are due July 1, 2020 and must be paid or US Post Marked on or before August 3, 2020 to be considered on time.  All Personal Property, Motor Vehicle, and all other Real Estate taxes (including, non-escrowed real estate taxes, and real estate taxes due from landlords [or any taxpayer that rents or leases property to tenants or lessees] whose Deferment application has been approved], are due on July 1, 2020 and must be paid or US Post Marked on or before October 1, 2020 to be considered on time. 

Accordingly and thereafter all deadlines to make timely payments are subject to an interest charge of 1.5% per month from the DUE DATE of July 1, 2020.  Minimum interest is $2.00 (Section 12-146 Connecticut General Statutes)

Failure to receive a tax bill shall not invalidate the tax or penalties added (Sec. 12-130 CGS)

Taxes can be paid by:

• Using the preprinted envelopes enclosed in your bill(s)

• Dropping your taxes into the Green Box at the parking lot entrance to Town Hall using an envelope marked “TAX OFFICE”

• Online at www.easthartfordct.gov/tax-collector/tax-payment-notice

• If a receipt is requested, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.

TOWN HALL WILL REMAIN CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE AND WILL BE COMPLETELY CLOSED ON JULY 3, 2020
