Weather Alert – Tropical Storm Nicole

Weather Alert – Showers and Thunderstorms

East Hartford, CT –The National Weather Service predicts that remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole could bring heavy rainfall to Connecticut beginning in the afternoon on Friday, November 11, 2022 and continuing into Saturday morning, November 12, 2022. The storm has the potential for some heavy rain that could cause minor flooding.

Residents should take this time to clean gutters and down spouts, as well as clear leaves on walkways and from covering catch basins. Wet leaves are extremely slippery, and can clog drains leading to small scale flooding issues. Streams remain seasonally low, however street flooding could become an issue. In case of heavy rain and potential flooding, we are asking the public to remain at home and avoid driving over any standing water, as its depth can be deceiving. When in doubt, “TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.” Please also remember not to touch downed power lines and wires.

There will be no leaf pickup Friday, but will resume Saturday, possibly with a slight delay in the morning should the rain be a little slow to move out.

Residents are encouraged to take precautions and refresh their personal and family preparedness plan in preparation for the storm. Please visit the CDC inclement preparedness website for valuable storm preparation tips. For additional preparedness tips, please view CT Ready.
