UniteCT Program Offering Financial Assistance to Renters and Landlords Financially Impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic

UniteCT Program

East Hartford, CT— The Center for Disease Control’s moratorium on evictions has been extended through July 31, 2021. The CDC moratorium prevents landlords from evicting tenants for not paying rent, not paying other charges such as late fees, or because their lease ends, due to financial hardships many people have faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to take advantage of the CDC eviction moratorium, eligible tenants must fill out a copy of the CDC Eviction Protection Declaration, which can be found here, and submit it to their landlord. For more information about the CDC’s eviction moratorium, please visit the following link here.

If you are a renter or landlord who has been financially impacted by the pandemic, there are additional resources that can assist you. UniteCT is a new state program that offers financial assistance for rent and utilities accrued since March 13, 2020 for renters and landlords in Connecticut who qualify. The program offers up to $15,000 in rental assistance and up to $1,500 in electricity and utility payments to landlords and utility companies on behalf of tenants who qualify for the program.

If you are a renter seeking financial assistance for your rent and utilities, you can find more information about UniteCT, eligibility and qualifications, and how to apply for the program here. Some of the program qualifications for renters require that you:
