East Hartford, CT—The Town of East Hartford is offering the historic building located at 1450 Main Street in town for lease. The facility was home to the popular Tastebuds Banquet & Catering Facility until June of 2019. The historic, two-story brick building was constructed in 1909 as the Second North School. A joint effort between the Town of East Hartford and Tastebuds renovated the building for use as a catering facility in 1998. It maintains its historic charm, both with its stately exterior and elegant interior. The lease terms are favorable, the building is centrally located in the Hartford region, and the site has ample parking with 68 spaces. The 8,818-square foot facility can accommodate up to 210 people.

The building is ideal for a catering facility, restaurant, or brewpub. It is located in the B-1 zone, allowing a mix of commercial and residential uses, on a 1.22 acre parcel. To accommodate a growing industry, East Hartford revised its zoning regulations in January of 2019 to allow for breweries and brewpubs in commercial areas by special permit. The Paddle Creek Beer Company has announced plans to open nearby at 1277 Main Street this fall.  The Town is open to considering other potential uses as well.

The Town has an open Request for Proposals that has been extended until Tuesday, August 27th, at 11:00 AM. The RFP, including more detailed information about the property, is available on the Town’s Purchasing Department webpage. Questions may be directed to the East Hartford Development Department at (860) 291-7300.
