Town of East Hartford to Join National Gun Violence Awareness

East Hartford, CT - Mayor Mike Walsh invites the community to join him for a moment of silence on Thursday, June 2 at NOON outside the East Hartford Town Hall in memory and honor of all gun violence victims. This event is planned as part of the National Gun Violence Awareness campaign. Mayor Mike will issue a proclamation naming June 2, 2022 National Gun Violence Awareness Day in East Hartford. The Town Hall will be lit up in orange colors Thursday in honor of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old Chicago student killed by gunfire in 2013.

The community is encouraged to wear orange, which is now associated with National Gun Violence Awareness due to it being Hadiya's favorite color and because orange is the color hunters wear to protect themselves from being shot.
