Town of East Hartford Finalizing Contract with TaxServ Capital Services, LLC for Collection of Delinquent Taxes

(November 18, 2015) East Hartford, CT – Mayor Marcia A. Leclerc announced today that the Town of East Hartford is finalizing a contract with an outside agency for the collection of delinquent tax obligations.  The collection agency will assess a collection fee of 15% of the amount collected in addition to the taxes owed.

TaxServ Capital Services, LLC was recently selected by the Town after completing a thorough review process and will begin collection efforts in the near future after final approval by Mayor Leclerc.  Delinquent taxes to be pursued through the collection program include amounts due for: Motor Vehicle Taxes, Personal Property Taxes and Real Estate Taxes.

“I strongly encourage anyone who owes municipal taxes to pay immediately to avoid the fee which will be added when the private vendor begins collection efforts,” Mayor Marcia Leclerc said.

To avoid a collection fee, outstanding taxes must be paid to the Town of East Hartford Tax Office as soon as possible.  Payment of all delinquent Town tax obligations should be made by mail or in person to the Tax Office.  For payments made in person, the Town will accept cash, certified checks, money orders, and MasterCard, Visa or Discover cards.  To make a payment by mail, send payment by certified check or money order (do not send cash) along with information on the tax bills you are paying to: Town of East Hartford Tax Collector, 740 Main Street, East Hartford, CT 06108.

Residents may also use the Town's online payment system.  Your tax information will be needed for this method of payment.  Please visit the Tax Office website at www.easthartfordct.gov.  The website accepts Visa or MasterCard, or any card containing the Visa or MasterCard logo.
